چکیده
Abstract Introduction Endoscopic biliary stenting is a common procedure, with indications from malignant obstruction to benign stone disease. We discuss patient who re-presented after endoscopic having been lost follow up, large ‘stentolith’ requiring open CBD exploration. Case Presentation A 56-year-old female presented in 2013 obstructive jaundice and 2-week history of abdominal pain. She was smoker, but otherwise had no past medical, surgical, or relevant family history. After initial workup, ERCP sphincterotomy pigtail stent placement performed interval laparoscopic cholecystectomy 2014. Post-operative up not arranged, the subsequently 2020 fatigue. MRCP confirmed proximal linear artefact. Open exploration facilitated removal stone-stent complex. Discussion Complications include cholangitis, occlusion migration [2]. Stenting for failed extraction considered temporary measure, exchange at three months (1). However, patients may be return non-specific symptoms. rare cause de novo formation gallstone calculus encasing stent, phenomenon termed “stentolith” [4]. Proposed pathophysiology through promotion bacterial proliferation by biofilm calcium bilirubinate precipitation [6]. Variation has described, plastic stents developing circumferential stones [12-25], due potential space between wall stent. Conclusions This highlights importance robust inter-disciplinary working; careful follows implementation mandatory registry all hospitals stented patients.

Reversible acute duodenitis as a complication of endoscopic biliary stenting.
A 78-year-old diabetic male was admitted with jaundice, weight loss, and intermittent upper abdominal pain. Laboratory tests disclosed anaemia (haemoglobin 9.4 mg/dL), elevated C-reactive protein, serum bilirubin (17 mg/dl), transaminase and alkaline phosphatase levels. Following ultrasound confirmation of biliary dilatation, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) depicted a concent...

Background: Hearing loss is one of the most common birth defects and early detection of this disorder at birth is not possible without hearing screening. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of loss to-follow-up after neonatal hearing screening and its related factors in KhoramAbad Province - Iran. Methods: This retrospective correlational study was conducted in the time period...
متن کاملPortal biliopathy treated with endoscopic biliary stenting.
Portal biliopathy is defined as abnormalities in the extra- and intrahepatic ducts and gallbladder of patients with portal hypertension. This condition is associated with extrahepatic venous obstruction and dilatation of the venous plexus of the common bile duct, resulting in mural irregularities and compression of the biliary tree. Most patients with portal biliopathy remain asymptomatic, but ...
متن کاملLoss to follow-up
Why do these situations make a difference? Because in each situation, those lost to follow-up often have a different prognosis than those who complete the study. For example, patients who receive treatment for cervical myelopathy may not return for follow-up because they became asymptomatic and felt no need to return to see the surgeon. Conversely, some patients may not return because they had ...
متن کاملImmediate and Short-term Follow-Up of Aortic Coarctation Balloon Angioplasty and Stenting
Background Aortic Coarcatation (CoA) is one of the congenital heart diseases with the rate of 5-8% of Coronary heart diseases(CHDs). Balloon angioplasty is now one of the effective way of treatment for CoA, native or Re-coarctation (Re-CoA). We aimed to assess the immediate, and short term response to angioplasty and stenting, and also complications. Materials and Methods Balloon angioplasty wi...
